1. Carbon steel ship plate
Features: low cost, good process performance, suitable for general ship structure.
Q235B, Q345C (corresponding to classification society grades such as CCS-A, CCS-B).
ABS-A, LR-A (in compliance with classification society standards such as ABS, LR).
Application: main hull structure, non-critical parts (such as cargo holds, decks).

2. Low alloy steel ship plate
Features: adding alloy elements such as manganese, silicon, vanadium, high strength and good corrosion resistance.
Q345D, Q390E (corresponding to CCS-D, CCS-E grade high-strength ship plates).
ABS-H32, DNV-GL-A36 (high-strength ship plates, yield strength 315-355MPa).
Application: Key parts of large ships (such as high-strength areas at the bow and stern), offshore vessels.

Stainless steel ship plates: Excellent corrosion resistance, used for chemical tankers, food transport ships, etc. (such as 316L stainless steel).

Aluminum alloy ship plates: Light weight, good corrosion resistance, suitable for high-speed boats and yachts (such as 5083 aluminum alloy).

Composite ship plates: Glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP), etc., used for small ships or special demand scenarios.

ABS (American Bureau of Shipping): formulates ship plate material specifications, such as ABS "Steel Hull Construction".
LR (Lloyd's Register of Shipping): tests and certifies the mechanical properties and chemical composition of ship plates.
DNV-GL (Det Norske Veritas): issues ship plate material certification certificates (such as MED certification for ship equipment).
CCS (China Classification Society): The main certification body for domestic shipbuilding, ship plates must comply with the "Steel Seagoing Ship Classification Rules".

1. Mechanical properties
Strength: It needs to have high tensile strength and yield strength to withstand the water pressure, wind and wave impact and self-load of the ship during navigation. For example, the yield strength of common ship plates is usually above 235MPa (such as Q235B).
Toughness: It still maintains good impact toughness in low temperature environment to avoid the hull structure from cracking due to low temperature (such as the ABS specification requires that the impact energy of the ship plate at -20℃ meets the standard).
Plasticity: It has a certain elongation to ensure that the hull is not easy to break when deformed by external forces. Generally, the elongation must reach more than 20%.

2. Process performance
Welding performance: The ship plate needs to be easy to weld, and the mechanical properties of the heat-affected zone after welding do not decrease significantly to avoid weld cracking (such as the carbon equivalent is controlled below 0.4% to ensure weldability).
Forming performance: It can be formed by cold bending, hot processing and other methods to meet the processing requirements of complex hull structures (such as the bending angle and bending center diameter in the cold bending test must meet the standard).

3. Corrosion resistance
Long-term contact with corrosive media such as seawater and humid air requires good seawater corrosion resistance. Some ship plates will improve corrosion resistance by adding alloy elements (such as copper and nickel) or surface treatment.

4. High and low temperature resistance
Ship plates in high temperature areas such as engine rooms need to be resistant to high temperatures, while ship plates for polar routes need to be resistant to low temperatures (for example, nickel alloy ship plates can withstand temperatures below -100°C).

1. Our thickness and specifications
We can recommend different thicknesses according to different parts of the ship plates. The thickness of the hull shell is 6-50mm, and the thickness of the bottom plate of a large tanker can reach more than 30mm.
The specifications must meet the shipbuilding process requirements (such as the width is usually 1.5-3m and the length can reach 12m).
2. Our surface treatment
The ship plates need to be derusted (such as Sa2.5 grade sandblasting derusting) and painted (primer, intermediate paint, topcoat) to prevent seawater corrosion. The coating thickness is usually 200-300μm.
3. Weight and cost
Under the trend of lightweight design, high-strength ship plates are preferred to reduce the amount of steel (such as using Q460E instead of Q345D can reduce weight by 20%).
